Gorgeous Gougane Barra Wedding

Gougane Barra is a very very very special place. To visit Gougane is special but to get married there even more so. Dave & Lizzie wanted a small wedding abroad that wasn’t hot. Their Irish friend heard and suggested Gougane. The guys visited a few days before the wedding (!) and they were delighted with their choice. Gougane never fails to delight. A true gem.
Dave & Lizzie are together 19 years (you dont want to rush these things) so it was a long wait for a very short aisle of St Finbarrs Oratory.
Our day started in the Gougane Barra Hotel with Dave and his best man Matt enjoying a quick pint for strength before the ceremony. Meanwhile directly upstairs was Lizzie. I love their son James peaking out the window at his Dad below – can you spot him? With two photographers, Dara with the lads, me with the bride, you see these two precious moments captured from different angles. Daughter Elise was doing a super job as bridemaid. The boys and guests managed to get to the church but it was a bit windy (ahem) by the time Lizzie arrived.
Fr Pat O’Donovan gave a beautiful ceremony. One of the other delights of photographing in Gougane is how beautiful the island around the oratory is. You can always find a spot free of the wind somewhere and we managed to do just that. Back to the Gougane Hotel for a wonderful reception by Neil and Katy. The fairy door in the hotel entrance was the perfect venue for our rings as every Irish wedding should have a touch of magic.
Did we mention that the guys were together 19 years? There was LOADS of laughter during the speeches as this fact was mentioned a few times. Lizzie even received a certificate from the Telling family!!!
Lots of laughs on the day and wishing you lots of laughter in your married life together.
